Well, the arborists came by today to chop the old oak tree down. Okay, chop is not accurate—saw it and pull it down is more accurate. I tried to count a few of the outer rings, and boy there are a lot of them. If my husband manages to get a clean cross section of stump, we might be able to count the rings. I’m guessing 200-250+ years, though. One thing’s for sure, we’ll have a lot of firewood in the coming years!
